About eZ Publish

There are a lot of CMS choices. Why choose eZ Publish?

eZ Publish is the open source content management framework behind millions of websites and applications. It powers many of the web’s most influential platforms. It has long been how companies and organizations—large and small—keep up with the demands of managing their content operations.
It's built for easily creating versatile, structured content and connecting powerful integration tools. It's also known for multi-site capacity and deep multilingualism support. To see why others have chosen eZ Publish, check out our case studies.

What is the eZ Publish Project?

The eZ Publish Project is the community of dedicated individuals working hard to helping eZ Publish flourish. It helps the eZ Publish community with direction, infrastructure, events, promotion, and distribution.

How can I help and contribute to the eZ Publish project?

Our community relies on all kinds of contributions. We love helping people find ways to support eZ Publish. Donations and association memberships help the eZ Publish Project make things like ezpublish portal maintenance and community events possible. But we understand that not everyone can donate money. You can still help in many other ways, like contributing code, helping with translations, writing documentation, sharing accessibility advice, or testing patches. Find what interests you.

Why does eZ Publish have some features but not others?

We value innovation and stability. We're careful about sacrificing one for the other, so we work on balance. Because eZ Publish is used so widely, every single line of code that goes into eZ Publish's core is meticulously scrutinized. Most changes to core go through dozens, if not hundreds, of revisions before being included.

We're also aware of the time great software design, development, translation, and testing takes. Keeping core to essential functions, and encouraging contributed modules to extend it, generally shortens the version release cycle.

When and how are new versions released?

Starting with the release of eZ Publish 6, eZ Publish's release cycle schedule changes and uses semantic versioning.
